“I’m going to kill him.” Lauren paced the living room, gnawing at the side of her thumb, stare locked on the floor. “I’m going to kill him.” She stopped, swung toward Chloe—currently standing in the kitchen giving Josh a piece of her mind on the phone—and thrust out her hand. “Give me the phone, Chloe. I’m going to kill him.”

Leaping to her feet, Caitlin cupped Lauren’s shoulders in a steadying grip. As angry as she was at Josh, she was more worried about Lauren. “It’s going to be okay, Lauren.”

“All right,” Frankie said, striding into the room from the suite’s courtyard, staring at her phone. “So I’ve got us a charter helicopter booked to collect us in three hours. It’s the earliest one I could get unless I actually bought a helicopter.” She stopped. Looked up at nothing. Frowned. “Maybe I should buy a helicopter?” She swung a glance around the room. “Does anyone here know how to fly a helicopter?”

In the kitchen, Chloe stomped her foot. “I don’t care what Dad said.”

“Chloe—” Lauren waved her hand at Chloe again, “—give me the phone. I want to talk to your father.”

“Lauren.” Caitlin squeezed Lauren’s shoulders. “You need to take a breath.”

“So the chopper’s going to be here in three hours,” Frankie went on, staring at her phone again. “It’ll take us to the mainland. From there, I’ve booked us a private plane to Sydney. We should get there just in time to kick Nick’s fucking arse.”

“No, you listen to me,” Chloe snarled into her phone. “What kind of brother—”

Throwing up her hands, Caitlin crossed the suite, plucked Chloe’s phone from her hand and pressed it to her ear. “Hi, Josh,” she said calmly. Controlled. “You’ve got some explaining to do.”

“Hi, babe,” Josh’s warm voice slipped into her ear. “I do. I’m sorry.”

Lauren hurried over to where she stood, worry fighting with rage on her face. “Can I talk to him?”

“Put me on speaker, babe,” Josh said.

Caitlin sighed. “Okay.”

“Hey, Caity?” Josh said just as she began to pull the phone away from her ear.

“Yeah?”

“I love you.”

She let out a shaky laugh. “Yeah, yeah. Tell your story walking.”

He chuckled.

“I love you, too,” she murmured, her heart pounding before she lowered the phone and activated its speaker.

“Hi, Mum,” Josh’s voice floated into the air. “Before you absolutely tear me and Dad a new one, he’s okay. Do you hear me? Dad’s okay.”

Relief washed through Caitlin, warm and tight and yet somehow brittle.

A short sob of a laugh came from Lauren. “Hi, Josh. Do you both realize how much trouble you’re in?”

“We do,” Josh said.

“They do,” came Aslin’s call from the background of the call.

“Definitely do,” Levi agreed, his voice fainter still.

Caitlin bit her lip. It seemed Josh and Nick had a support crew in Sydney.

“We do,” Nick’s voice—smooth and distinct—followed.

Lauren’s eyes closed and, breath choppy, she dropped onto the sofa, palm pressing to her mouth.

“Babe?” Nick said, his voice almost a whisper through the phone’s speaker.

Shaking her head, Lauren lowered her hand and looked up at Caitlin.
